Catching Up

It has been quite a long time since I have posted mostly because I really don't feel like I have anything positive to post, but I will try to update a little. It has been 5 months since Sol graduated from the University of Utah and we are still searching for a job. I never knew that finding Sol a job would take this long and this much effort. It has been a long process which I hope ends soon. This summer was a complete blur. We have been so caught up in the job hunt that time just flew by. We were able to do a few things thankfully.

After Sol and I got back from Moab we went to the Zoo with my family. We had a lot of fun and Sol and I were excited to go since last year when we went over our anniversary we were both extremely sick. All the animals were cute and fun to watch and the temperature was wonderful. Here are a few pictures.

This is my family.
The elephants were my dads favorite.

In June we celebrated our 2nd Anniversary. We were able to stay at my parents house that whole week dog sitting and I can't tell you how nice it was to actually have time to ourselves for once. For our anniversary we went to Desert Star Playhouse and saw James Blonde. I thought it was hilarious. I'm not sure Sol liked it as much as I did, but he had fun. If you have never gone to Desert Star I highly recommend it. That is pretty much all we did for our Anniversary, but it was nice and it was a very relaxing week.
Since then we haven't really done much. Sol's older brother Ryan got married in Moab August 18th. So we traveled down there for the wedding and reception, but we only able to stay there for a few days because I had to get back to work. Now that the summer is over and fall is here I so hope that things get more exciting and hopefully that includes Sol getting a job.

Graduation and Relaxation

Sol finally did it. He graduated from the University of Utah on May 8th. For some reason I was extremely emotional when the processional began, but I promise I composed myself and was fine the rest of the day. I am so proud of him for finally getting through his schooling. It was a long day, but very good. Now lets just hope he can find a job in this crappy economy. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Isn't he so adorable??!!

I don't particularly like myself in this picture, but Sol looks good.

The week after he graduated was my birthday and we decided to take off for a few days. This is a huge step for us because Sol is such a stickler with money, but really the only way he let us go is because we didn't have to pay for somewhere to stay. Sol's family has a condo down in Moab that we went and stayed in. It was so nice to get away from reality for awhile and just relax which is something we haven't been able to do for quite some time. We spent some time swimming, biking, hiking and sight-seeing. We had a great time and I can't tell you how hard it was to leave and come back to work and job hunting.

This is where we stayed.

The three above are from Arches National Park, which was so pretty.

Now that we are back my life has gone back to normal, but Sol is still job hunting. We really want to stay in Utah, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I guess all we can do now is wait and hope something happens soon.

All About Us

What are your middle names? Mine is Lynn and Sol's is Lee
How long have you been together? We have been married about 1 year and 9 months and we have been together for over 3 years.
How long did you know each other before you started dating? We knew each other for a few months. We were actually really good friends before we got together.
How old are each of you? Sol is 22 and I am 21, but will be 22 in May.
Whose siblings do you see the most? Well right now that would be Sol's since we live with his family right now, but we do see most of mine every week also.
Which situation is the hardest on you as a couple? We are both extremely stubborn, but we still seem to work things out eventually.
Did you go to the same school? We both went to Snow College, which is where me met and we actually got to graduate together.
Are you from the same home town? Nope, Sol is from Lehi and I am from West Jordan/Taylorsville area.
Who is smarter? I would have to admit that he is the smart one. I mean he loves math and is extremely good at it. Though I do feel that I am the smart one in some other situations.
Who is the most sensitive? Yeah that would be me. I always blame it on my mom because she is so emotional. I cry probably more than I should.
Where is the farthest you two have traveled together as a couple? New York City
Who has the craziest exes? Neither of us has any crazy exes.
Who has the worst temper? I would say Sol, but I am sure if you were to ask him he would say I do. We both like to yell, but I promise it always ends with us laughing.
Who does the cooking? Well right now neither of us since we live with Sol's family, but when we were on our own it was definitely me.
Who is the neat freak? That would probably be me, but I am not exactly a freak about it. I can be quite messy myself.
Who is more stubborn? That is a complete tie!
Who hogs the bed? I probably hog it more than he does. The only thing he does sometimes is steal the covers.
Who wakes up earlier? We wake up at the same time pretty much everyday.
Where was your first date? This may sound weird to some of you, but I really don't recall going out on a first date. The way our relationship started is kind of a weird story I won't share right now.
Who is more jealous? Probably me. Especially when he came home one day and told me of how some girl left a note for him with her phone number and said she thought he was cute.
How long did it take to get serious? Like I said before, our story is a little weird so I'll say one day. Haha
Who eats more? That would definitely be Sol. His stomach is like a pit. He is always hungry and he eats more than anyone I have ever known.
Who does the laundry? I do because when Sol does it the clean close never get put away.
Who is better with the computer? I really don't know, but I will say that Sol is.
Who drives when you are together? Most of the time Sol does.

I tag Steph and Kris and whoever else wants to do it.

Holidays (yeah I know I am way late)

I seriously can't believe it is already February. I still haven't had the opportunity to post about the holidays and so I know I am way late, but here it is. ( You can blame it all on Sol since he's on the computer all night doing homework.)
December:
A few weeks before Christmas Sol and I went over to my parents house to do Gingerbread trains with my family. It was fun except for the fact that I couldn't get Sol to help me at all. He is one that likes to sit back and criticize, which is exactly what he did. Here are a few pictures.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Sol is weird!! Ha Ha

The finished product!! Isn't it so pretty!!

This is my sister Kristina with hers. My mom helped her with it, which was so not fair since I had to do mine by myself.

We had so much fun and I was extremely proud of myself for actually having my camera with me. The rest of the Holidays were fun. I got to take a few days off of work, which is always needed around the Holidays. Sol and I got to spend Christmas with both of our families this year. We spent the morning with Sol's family and had a great breakfast and opened presents. Sol got a new watch that he badly needed and other stuff that I really can't remember. His parents gave me a video recorder and they gave both of us a belgian waffle maker and I can't tell you how much Sol loves this gift. I'm sure if you lived here and have had as many waffles as I have since Christmas you would know. It makes huge waffles though so I can barely even eat one.

The rest of Christmas day we spent with my family. We went over to my parents and opened presents and then headed over to my grandparents. Like Thanksgiving, Christmas at grandmas is so good. It really is my favorite part of Christmas especially the white elephant game we do. Luckily this year I got the good white elephant. My grandfather is very artisitic and he likes to paint gords. They are the neatest things. Anyway, Christmas was great and of course it just went by way too fast. Like I said I can't believe it is February.

New Years was also an adventure and of course another family get together. I don't think Sol is used to doing things with family as much as my family does things. I guess its because we live so close to each other. Anyway, every new years day we go bowling with my mom's side of the family. Now in my family we just go bowling to have fun. None of my family is all that good and so we just go to spend time together, but now that Sol is apart of the family that has changed. He hates it when he is not good (well actually great) at everything. He refuses to have fun unless he is beating everyone. I'm sure by the picture below you can tell how he was feeling.

Yeah the first game we played he was pissed, but the second one he did good and was happy until the end when he found out that my cousin still beat his score. We all had a lot of fun though and I hope you enjoy the pictures of everyones lovely behinds as they bowl.

This is my poppa. You should have seen his little skip hop thing he did everytime. He blamed it on his shoes, but I'm not sure about that.
And this is my Mom. She is just so cute!!
Luckily no one got a picture of me bowling, well at least they didn't take a picture of me with my camera. All in all the holidays were fun. We spent a lot of time with family which I love and Sol is getting used it all.
Also, Sol had is 22nd Birthday on the 19th of January. Sadly I again didn't take any pictures. I swear I am going to be a horrible mother since I never think to have my camera handy. Hopefully that will change shortly. Anyway, it was a fun day. We went to dinner together and then went and saw Marley and Me, which is such a cute show. Sol even liked the movie which is saying a lot. I still haven't gotten him his birthday present because he will only let me buy him the specific thing he wants and if I were to spend money on something else he would not be happy with me. What can I say? My husband is very stingy. We had fun together though which is the most important thing.
We are now counting down the days until Sol graduates and we can finally start our family and get out on our own. Only three more months, and then lets just hope that Sol can get a good job in this crappy economy. Of course it is just our luck that the economy would be like this when we are ready to settle down. Oh well, all you can do is pray and keep looking. I do know that no matter what, we will be fine with whatever happens.

Whahoo!!

It finally snowed yesterday. I am so happy. The last time it snowed in Salt Lake I had the day off and it didn't snow here in Tooele so I missed out. I have always loved snow and it really never seems like Christmas without it. So hopefully the Snow is here until then. Here is a picture, it isn't very good because I took it with my phone and it was taken through the drive-thru window at work

Anyway, these past few weeks have actually been pretty busy for us. We hardly ever do anything other than go to work, eat and sleep so we were really excited to have stuff to do. This year we spent Thanksgiving with my family. Every year my family goes up to my grandparents house for dinner on Thanksgiving and I love it. My grandmother is an amazing cook especially around the holidays. My favorite part of the whole meal is the dessert. Yes, I know that is not a good thing, but I absolutely love pumpkin pie and it was yummy. My grandma also makes her special fudge for thanksgiving which is to die for. So all in all Thanksgiving was great, we got to eat really good food and spent a lot of time with my family.

After Thanksgiving we got to relax for the weekend, well Sol did, I had to go back to work on Friday. Then we had another very eventful week. On Monday we went to a concert thing for my brother, Danny. Danny is a senior this year (which is so weird) and he is in a singing group called Madrigals ( I was in this group when I was a senior and it was the greatest). The Madrigals put together a Christmas program every year, which they perform all through December at various places. There first performance is always for their families so that is why we were there. It was so much fun to see him singing and dancing around. He has always been a shy kid so it was great to see him being out there. I'm not sure if Sol enjoyed it, but I did!!

Danny is the one with the snowflake on his shirt.

At the end of the week we went to my works Christmas party at Buca di Beppo. It is an italian restaurtant that serves all the food family style. So each entree feeds at least two people or up to six if you get a large. It was so much fun tasting all the different dishes and just to be able to talk to my coworkers outside of work. I am horrible at taking my camera with me so I don't have any pictures. We also went to my parents ward party on Saturday which was so fun for me. I love going back to the home ward and seeing all the wonderful people that I grew up with. Sol had fun this weekend too because he got to have two free meals and if there is free food somewhere, Sol is sure to want to go.

These past few weeks were really fun and busy and even though we are now back to our same old same old stuff, it is kind of nice not to have to worry about anything for a little bit.

Halloween!!

I know it has been a few weeks since Halloween, but I haven't had a lot of time to post and well I actually kind of forgot that I had pictures to post.

This is a pic of me and all my fun co-workers. We were supposed to be in 80's workout clothes!!!

And this is me acting like a goof ball!!

An Update On Life

We have been living with Sol’s family for about 3 months now and it has been a very interesting but fun experience. It really has been so nice to be able to save money for when Sol is done with school and they are so great at making it as comfortable as possible for us. It has been quite a big adjustment though. I am not really used to having young kids around me all the time and Hannah and Sam are very energetic all the time. They are a really great family though and I do love them. We have learned a lot living there and we are so appreciative towards his family.

Sol is doing really well in school this semester. He is trying his best and studying a lot, which doesn’t leave a lot of time for us to do things, but we know in the end it will be worth the sacrifices. This past month Sol was awarded the Smart grant from the University of Utah, which now means we have enough money from all the grants Sol received to pay for the rest of his schooling. I am so grateful that there is a way for those that don’t have a lot of money to go to school without having to get loans. As this is Sol’s last year he is starting to get a little antsy. He really wants to graduate and start working. He really hates the fact that I am the one supporting us right now. He would much rather it be him that is working. I think that when he is done he will do a great job at whatever job he gets.

We also received a new calling in our ward. Sol and I are now the Webelos leaders for the cub scouts. I was not really expecting a calling like this, but I think it will be a good thing for both of us. We only have two boys that are Webelos and one of them is Sol’s little brother Sam. The other boy is extremely shy. So that will be an adventure trying to get him comfortable enough to actually talk to us. I think it will be fun to get to know the boys and it will be good practice for when we have a boy and have to help him with scouts.
